It's official!! We've elected a new office for the new school year.

Congratulations Ladies!! It's going to be a great year!!

The next event we have coming up is State in Norman. We need some volunteers to go and help set up the booth and maintain it. The dates will be April 18th thru the 20th. Thursday is set up, Friday will be running the booth, and Saturday will be the President's Reception which will be a Western Theme. Seeking Sitters will be available. AOOA will also pay for one Hotel Room, the room just needs to be reserved. If you pay for the room they will reimburse you as long as the room is used. If you have any further questions please get with Meghan A.

Playgroup this week will be Saturday at the Philbrook Museum. Jessica will post all the info on fb.

The next meeting will be April 2nd and we will do the Spouses Panel that day.

The Wine Pull Fundraiser raised $975!! YAY! Thank you to everyone who helped!
*Upcoming Events:
We are selling packages including Flower arrangements and Spa gift cards. Please get with Brittany Fisher if you would like to order any flowers. She needs to know ASAP so she can make the arrangements.

The Valentine's Day Dinner will be February 9th 7pm @ The Local Table. Please RSVP.

Family Movie Night will be Feb. 15th @ 6:30. We will be watching Brave and eating popcorn.

Manvocate Bowling will be the end of February.

Jessica will continue to post the play groups on the FB page.

It's that time for Nominations!!! Everything will be done by the book.
-Nominations will be taken at the March meeting, the official vote will be during the April meeting followed by installation in May.
-There can be no more than 2 people nominated for any position. If there are any positions where more than two candidates there will be a vote for those exceeding that at the nominations meeting.
-Only members paid in full are eligible to vote or to be nominated for an office.
-We will only be taking nominations and voting on the executive board positions. All chairs will be appointed by the president.

February 23rd will be the Student Admittance Day. We need a few volunteers to come up to the school and speak to the families about the SAA and what we do for the students and families.

The next meeting will be March 5.

We had a great meeting with lots if information this month.

Janelle, Apryl, and Joy went to National Convention this year. If you would like a T-shirt please get with Janelle. The crew neck is $10 and available in large and x-large. The V-neck is $11 and available in small and medium. They also have coffee mugs that are $10 each.

*Upcoming Events

-Playgroup this week will be Monday the 12th at Color Me Mine on 41st and Yale. Jessica will post the invite with all the info on fb. There is no seating fee on Monday, just the price of the pottery. There is no playgroup for the week of Thanksgiving.

-Thanksgiving Dinner will be the 15th at 6pm. If you would like to bring a dessert that would be great. The pies will be donated. We will have dinner with all the fixings, door prizes, and fun activities for the kids. Hope to see everyone there.

-Meals for Finals will be Dec. 3rd thru the 6th. We will have Spaghetti with salad and garlic bread, Crockpot Day (soups), Chili w/ the fixings, and Brinner (breakfast for dinner). If you would like help with this please let us know. Thanks.

-The next Girls Night Out will be November the 27th at Pinot Pallet. Great time to get together just us girls.

-Walli Daniel is hosting Christmas Tea on Dec. 1st at 11:30. There will be a hat contest which is optional. childcare will be provided at Allison Johnston home. Spouses are welcome. It will be $10 per person who is not SAA. Please let us know if you would like to attend.

*Promoting Manvocates
-Bowling Night Jan. 12th.

*If you would like to Sail Away with the SAA Feb 2nd-9th deposits are due Monday Nov. 12th and the final payment is due Nov. 19th. Deposits are $250 and completely refundable until the day before final payment. Deposit does toward the final payment. Families are more than welcome.
  -Prices are as follows: Inside cabin $520 pp, Ocean View $570 pp, and Balcony is $770 pp.
Fundraiser! $50 per cabin for organization. Please get with Janelle if you would like to go.

*The next meeting will be December 4th at 7:30. It will be at Janelle's and we will be doing a Cookie exchange and a gift exchange. The budget for the gifts will be $10.

Walli Daniel, AOOA President and Donna Cannon joined our meeting. We enjoyed having you both. Thank you ladies!

Walli spoke to us on what it is to be an advocate and shared her story. Thank you!

  Upcoming events:

*Snack Days for the students will be Oct. 15-19th. Fruit, Veggie, and Meat trays, etc. are great. You may leave them in the break room upstairs.

*OktoberFest is Oct. 17-19. We still need volunteers Wednesday and Friday 4 to 7:30 and Thursday 7:30 to close. We also need a volunteer to babysit the kids on Wednesday 4 to 5:30. Please let us know if you can help. If you do bring your children, please bring food for them.

*Spook-O-Ween is Friday Oct. 26th. Please come and enjoy the games and snacks. Any candy donations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

*Girls Night Out will be Tuesday , Oct. 23rd. Place and time TBD

*Playgroups: There is a thread on the fb page for afternoon playgroups. If you are interested please have a look. Also, the Pumpkin Patch playgroup will be this month so keep a lookout for that. Great photos of the kids!!

 AOOA Sponsored Events:

*Tulsa University Tailgate Party. It will be $10/person. This includes everything for the night. Please bring your families. Everyone will have a great time!

*OSU Medical Center Doctor Appreciation Oct. 25th. We need 4-5 volunteers. We will have food and drinks to show how much we appreciate the Doctors.

The next meeting will be November 6th @ 6:30. Donna Cannon will be joining us. Hope to see everyone there.

*Thanks to everyone who brought food to the school for the students! They loved it!!

*Everyone who signed up to help for Thanksgiving Dinner look out on FB. Joy will post a time and place to meet and go over duties for that day.

*ATOMS luncheon will be Sept 20 @ 11:30. It will be held at Jan Calabrese's house. There is no child care.

*I will be updating the contact list and sending that out within the next week so if you haven't updated your info or filled out a Membership form please do so and turn that in.


*If anyone has requests for different playgroup times please get with Jessica. (Possible playgroup times discussed 9:30a, 12:30p, 3:30p.) The playgroups that are scheduled will not be changed.

Committees

*VP BBQ will be September 22 and we need a couple of people to help set up and clean. If anyone has any lawn games please let us know if we can use them. You may contact Joy or Allison.

*Oktoberfest will be October 17-19 and we need volunteers for the parking lot Wednesday through Friday. The shifts will be 4 hour shifts and you will need to be up at the school by 4pm, if you cannot make the full 4 hrs that’s fine just let us know what you can do. If you have kids and would like to help but, you don’t have childcare you may volunteer to watch the children of those who also don’t have childcare. You would be inside at the school.

*Sppok-O-Ween will be October 26. We need help setting up and cleaning up as well as manning booths. Allow 3 hours for set and there will be 6 different booths. If you volunteer at a booth you would be explaining the games and handing out candy.

*Thanksgiving-Date TBD. We will have pot luck desserts. You can contact me Britney R if you would like to bring a dessert.

Upcoming Events

*There will no longer be emails going out about the playdates. Jessica will post the playdate information on facebook every week. There is a correction on two of the dates: Oct. 5 will be at Bounce-U and Nov. 2 will be at Jessica’s house.

*Snack Day for the students will be Tuesday September 4(first round of tests). If you would like to bring something that would be great, just make sure you have it at the school be noon. If you want to send it with your student that will be fine. You can bring meat trays, veggie trays, fruit, etc.

*Couples Day out will be Saturday September 8 at the Oilers Ice Arena from 12 to 4 and we’ll go for coffee after. Another fun way to get to know everyone!

*Family Day out will be September 15. Afternoon picnic at Woodward Park. 21^st between Utica and Peoria.

The next meeting will be September 4 @ 6:30. We will have a quick over view of upcoming events and then a guest speaker. Maghin Abernathy on IRAA.

Tonight's meeting went great!  It was a night of camaraderie, food and a little business.  =)

Today was another great turn out for playgroup.  We had a blast catching up and watching the kiddos play.

If you're planning to donate to Eugene Fields the donations will be picked up Monday, November 14th. (Again we're taking panties, underwear, socks and new tennis shoes.)

ATOMS Meeting

 This afternoon some of the officers attended the Auxiliary to the Tulsa Osteopathic Medical Society (ATOMS) luncheon.  

It was a great time to meet some of the wives of the doctors who will possibly have our spouses in future rounds. (Or current as Amanda found out.)

It was also a great time of learning a little more about ATOMS and what they do.  

Oh and most importantly it was a great time of consuming some AMAZING food!

One of the members, Donna Cannon, is actually a Chef and taught us a little about the menu she was making for us, which included handouts of all her recipes from today.

(She also teaches 2 cooking classes a month at The Stock Pot.)

A Busy Thursday for SAA!

Yesterday morning SAA's playgroup headed to the $1 movie to see Kung Fu Panda 2.

First meeting of 2010!

Hey Everyone,

The officers and I met this week to go over all the fun things we have planned for you and the students. The first activity will be our monthly meeting on Tuesday the 19 at 5:30. We will have our regular business meeting where you will get a tentative schedule and afterward we will have an educational workshop-Health and Fitness- by two of our awesome members. Ginny will be giving us tips on fitness and Holly will give us ideas to help us stay healthy when making food choices. This will be a great meeting after we have made our New Years resolutions! We hope you can make it.

November Meeting

Hi Everyone,


Our November meeting will be held tomorrow, November 5th, at 5:30 in Room D007 (same as last month). Hope to see you all there!


We will be finalizing the plans for our biggest student support event of the year, the Thanksgiving Dinner, along with discussing the Christmas Tea, Shoe Drive, the next fundraiser, December meeting, Social Nights Out and more.

Children are welcome and snacks provided. 

VP Luncheon

Just wanted to invite everyone to the Vice President's Luncheon on the 12th. Please find the invitation attached and let me know if you will be attending. The AOOA is hosting and will be having door prizes for those who have signed-up and paid their dues. For directions, please click here.

Also, we will have a meeting on Tuesday the 8th at 6:00 pm upstairs in the OMM lab (in hallway by Dunlap). At this meeting we will discuss our first fundraiser, the social night out, etc. and have a guest speaker who will demonstrate and teach some OMM.

Even if you haven't signed-up you are still welcome to come to both of these events. It's never too late to join.

Meet & Greet TONIGHT!

Don't forget SAA's annual Meet & Greet, TONIGHT at 6:30 PM in OSUCOM's main hall.

We will be providing pizza and treats while everyone gets to know each other and learns more about SAA. Plus, your student will be busy studying anyway, right?

Current members (attendance for prospective members is optional but definitely welcomed), please arrive at 6 PM for a short meeting. We will vote on the design for our new shirts and will discuss upcoming events. Plus, because we're feeling a bit generous, we'll hold a raffle for a free gift card!
